student performance data is used to assess the effectiveness of lessons. Key practices
include monitoring the pace of each student to enable teachers to provide help, examining
student performance on state measures of learning, collecting satisfaction data from
parents, guardians and students, and monitoring teacher progress toward course
               completion goals and student outcomes.

Christa McAuliffe Middle School, Blended Learning Virtual Classroom

Presently, the District provides virtual coursework for credit recovery in secondary schools.
Online credit recovery programs offer academic credit support toward receiving a high
school diploma. The focus is to help students stay in school and graduate on time. The
credit recovery programs use a "blended learning" model. The blended approach
incorporates the best features of online coursework and face-to-face educational support.

Palm Beach Virtual School offers various options for full-time enrollment at the K-5, 6-8, and
9-12 grade levels. Our current course offerings are through Florida Virtual School,
Edgenuity, and District-created courses offered through a contracted Learning Management
               System (LMS).

The Virtual School staff works with both the Educational Technology (EdTech) and
Information Technology (IT) departments to ensure online programs meet academic, equity,
access, and data security requirements. Virtual School works closely with IT, embracing the
use of Google products. The staff also uses, teaches, and shares Google initiatives with
other District stakeholders: students, parents/guardians, guidance counselors and
administrators. Consistently using, improving and increasing the use of Google products
and add-ons enhances learning, teaching, and productivity.

Looking forward, a top priority is the acquisition of a District-maintained LMS. This in-house
LMS should be integrated with the District Student Information System (SIS), be easy to
integrate with other courseware, and be robust enough for all students to take courses while
               managing their online course e-portfolio.
