         Access to Meals

        Access to Meals
All meals during the 2021-2022 school year were offered to all students for free. School Food Service (SFS)
provided over 8 million breakfasts, over 19 million lunches, and over 6 million snacks and supper meals in
FY22. In total, the SFS Department served over 34 million meals to students. Also, the waiver provided by the
United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) allowed schools to provide grab-and-go take home snacks,
helping students remain fueled on their way home from school. This waiver also allowed more schools to
participate in the Supper Program as well.

In order to keep students nourished during the Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break, the SFS
Department provided pre-holiday meal kits. This was also made possible by the waivers allowed through the
        USDA.

        • Thanksgiving Break - meal kits were distributed at 16 schools throughout the District. In total 3,981
students received 9 meals and 9 snacks equating to 71,658 meals in total.
        • Winter Break - meal kits were distributed at 16 schools throughout the District. In total 3,889 students
received 13 meals and 13 snacks equating to 101,114 meals in total.
        • Spring Break - meal distribution occurred in 18 schools where 3,662 students were provided a total
               of 36,620 meals and snacks.

Additionally, 11 schools provided Spring Break tutorial programs where School Food Service served students
over 1,800 meals and snacks throughout the week.
