Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP)
The Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program (FFVP) is an elementary school program sponsored by the United States
Department of Agriculture (USDA) that provides all children in participating schools with a variety of free
fresh fruits and vegetable snacks during the school day while providing fun educational facts about the fruit
or vegetable. The FFVP is an effective and creative way of introducing students to healthy snack options by
exposing them to fruits and vegetables they otherwise may not have the opportunity to sample. In FY22, 19
elementary schools participated serving over 775,000 fresh fruit and vegetable snacks.
Fuel Up with Dairy Fridays Promotion
In partnership with the Florida Dairy Council, School Food Service recently participated in Fuel Up with Dairy
Fridays featuring special dairy breakfast items each Friday from March 4th - April 8th, 2022. All schools offered
these featured items as part of their breakfast promotion and menu offerings. The Dairy Council provided
schools with fun prizes which were randomly awarded to students who chose one of the featured dairy items
for breakfast. In addition, the Florida Dairy Council also provided eighty-six (86) $25 Domino’s gift cards which
were awarded at the end of the five week promotion to lucky grand prize winning students.
This promotion also included special prizes for our SFS Managers as well. The Dairy Council generously
awarded 15 immersion blenders that will be used to make smoothies as part of the menu offerings in schools.
These immersion blenders will be presented in FY23 to the 15 schools that went above and beyond to make
this promotion a success. The Dairy Council also awarded Starbucks gift cards to all the School Food Service
staff in each of the 15 schools chosen.
The Fuel Up with Dairy Fridays featured items were:
• March 4th - Mandarin Orange Yogurt Parfait
• March 11th - Apple Pie Overnight Oats
• March 25th - Pineapple Yogurt Parfait
• April 1st - Peaches and Cream Overnight Oats
• April 8th - Mandarin Orange Yogurt Parfait
