The Department of Safe Schools, in the Division of Educational Alternatives and Interventions, is directly aligned to the District’s mission of excellence in education and preparing all students with the knowledge, skills, and ethics required for higher education, responsible citizenship and productive employment.
The Department of Safe Schools offers a wide range of programs and initiatives that improve conditions for learning in school. While focusing on the social, physical, and emotional needs of students, we enable students to focus on their academic needs in order to perform optimally in the classroom. Departmental emphasis is on the District’s most vulnerable students – students experiencing Homelessness, Foster Care children, Teenage Parents, and students with chronic health conditions. Through the School Based Team (SBT) and the SwPBS initiatives, we address the core and supplemental academic and behavioral needs of our students. We emphasize increased public awareness of our initiatives and identification and services for all students in Palm Beach County schools. Our strategic goals are focused on outcomes to improve graduation rates, college readiness, and scholarship opportunities for our students.
