The training builds a continuous improvement mindset throughout the organization by gathering the customer’s voice,
managing data and metrics, and empowering individuals and teams to own and improve their work. All employees can
attain yellow belt certification, which provides an overview of concepts central to LSS. The green belt training is an in-depth
course that develops candidates into improvement project facilitators and employee coaches. The implementation of an
18-month, results-based improvement project is required for certification.

What began as a capacity-building initiative in the Division of Human Resources quickly spread to other departments. More
than 900 District employees are now trained in LSS.

        Operational Excellence

The Operations Division implemented the Operational Excellence (OpEx) Program, streamlining processes, enhancing
collaboration, and effectively saving time and resources.

The monthly OpEx Forum has proven to be a valuable platform for collaborative problem-solving and sharing of best
practices. It has been a space where staff from various levels have come together, addressing operational challenges
and developing practical solutions. The forum has also been enriched by guest speakers of various topics from artificial
        intelligence to student performance metrics.

The Operations Division’s commitment to professional learning was further strengthened with the OpEx Academy.
This initiative, partly funded by cell tower leases, provided comprehensive training in project management and process
improvement methodologies (Six Sigma). Additionally, specialty workshops on soft skills and leadership management were
conducted. The annual OpEx Conference, a platform for improving communication and fostering collaboration within
the District, was also held. This conference provided an opportunity for the division, schools, and vendors to share best
practices, learn from peers, and showcase achievements.

The Operations Division leadership team gathered for an intensive OpEx Retreat, allowing staff to analyze strengths, identify
areas for growth, and plan future efficiency initiatives.
