Wellness Promotion
The District recognizes that health and safety
are important to our students and staff 's
overall wellness and academic performance.
Policy 2.035, Wellness Promotion, is aligned
to the “Whole School, Whole Community,
Whole Child” (WSCC) model developed by the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
This model has been instrumental in shaping
our approach to wellness and safety, and the
alignment ensured that our stakeholders were
well-informed and involved in the process.
The Department of School Food Service (SFS) obtained analysis scorecards following an evaluation by the Action for
Healthy Kids organization. The 2023 WellSAT 3.0 and the 2023 WellSAT WSCC guided our efforts and provided invaluable
insights into opportunities for improvement. A comprehensive action plan was developed across all 10 WSCC components.
Community Hunger Relief
The Department of School Food Service and
the District’s Hunger Relief Collaboration Team
(HRCT) partnered with local organizations
to provide backpacks, food pantries, and
other food distribution programs to support
our students and families. Table 3 shows the

In FY24, the department continued collaborating with the United Way of Palm Beach County Hunger Relief Advisory
Council and participated in several of their hunger relief workgroups.
To address the issue of hunger during holiday breaks, SFS partnered with non-profit organizations to host large-scale food
distribution events at selected schools. Feeding South Florida delivered an impressive 72 pallets and 81,535 pounds of
fresh produce and protein to each school. These efforts served approximately 1,409 households, supporting around 5,171
individuals. The Palm Beach County Food Bank also provided a double-bag opportunity for 15 schools in its Weekend Meal
