To actively lean into this shift and drive District-wide growth, the School District of Palm Beach County officially adopted Board Policy 2.505, Artificial Intelligence, on April 15, 2026. Rather than a restrictive mandate, this policy serves as a launchpad for innovation. It establishes the thoughtful frameworks required to ensure the safe, productive, and ethical use of AI, empowering both employees and students to explore these tools with confidence.A Framework for Professional EmpowermentThe rapid pace of AI advancement brings unprecedented opportunities to streamline workflows and personalize learning. Policy 2.505 ensures that as our staff integrates these tools, they do so in alignment with our District%u2019s high standards for ethics and professional conduct. To support our educators and staff, the policy outlines several guiding principles:%u2022 The Human-in-the-Loop: Educators remain the essential decisionmakers, utilizing AI to inform%u2014rather than replace%u2014their judgment on crucial student impacts like grades, graduation eligibility, and disciplinary actions.%u2022 Critical Reflection: Because AI is a developing technology, staff must critically review and refine all AI-generated materials to ensure the highest standards of accuracy.%u2022 Championing Privacy: Employees protect our community by keeping confidential and personally identifiable information (PII), like grades or identification numbers, out of unauthorized AI tools and third-party notetaking apps during confidential meetings.%u2022 Curated Toolsets: Staff are equipped to safely innovate using applications specifically vetted and approved by the District%u2019s technology committee, the Technology Clearinghouse (TCH).%u2022 Ethical AI: To uphold our commitment to inclusive environments, staff must maintain an awareness of societal biases within AI models and ensure use aligns with anti-discrimination policies. To foster confidence and familiarity with these frameworks a module covering this policy will be integrated into the mandatory IT annual security training and all staff utilizing District technology resources will participate in this training beginning in FY27.INNOVATESAFEGUARD: &
