BOARDROOM
TECHNOLOGY
UPDA TE
The Boardroom Technology Upgrade project, designed to enhance the
technology infrastructure of the Winona W. Jordan Boardroom has completed
several phases, leaving only Phase II, focused on lighting, still in progress.
This critical initiative was designed to replace outdated hardware that had
reached end of life, ensuring that the boardroom’s technology remains at the
forefront of modern needs. The upgrade includes lighting, audio, and video
systems that will significantly improve the quality of broadcasts, recordings,
and live events.
The project was structured in phases to ensure minimal disruption to
meetings. One of the key components of the plan involved swapping the
underutilized press room with the existing audio room. This change allows
for more efficient use of space and brings together the IT and TEN TV teams,
fostering greater collaboration and ensuring the most effective presentation
and distribution of Board meetings to both District staff and the public.
In terms of facilities and construction, significant upgrades have been
made, including electrical and HVAC evaluations, and the installation of new
storefront-style windows and doors. Camera systems have been upgraded
to 4K models, and the AV equipment has been fully revamped with new
components such as a camera control system, digital video router and
switcher, a sound system, wireless microphones, and integration with video
conferencing platforms.
Additionally, still cameras have been added for recognition photos. The
project also includes public view displays in the Thurber Conference
Rooms and new furniture and equipment racks. Except for the final lighting
phase, all elements of the project are now complete, marking a significant
technological advancement for the Winona W. Jordan Boardroom and
ensuring its readiness for future use.
