SCHOOL AND DISTRICT WEBSITES
TO MOVE TO BLACKBOARD
In Spring 2022, the District released an RFP (Request for Proposal) to
vendors who provide website hosting services. Four vendors responded and
provided the requested proposal. The RFP Selection Committee included
Claudia Shea, Valerie Crenshaw, David Atwell, Kara Rubinson, and Yolanda
Fields. After reviewing and scoring the submitted proposals and participating
in vendor demonstrations, Blackboard received the highest scores and was
selected as the first place vendor.
Hundreds of U.S. school districts and universities have Blackboard websites
and mobile apps. The RFP Selection Committee was very impressed
with Blackboard’s offerings. In addition, since the District already uses
Blackboard’s mass notification system (ParentLink), it will be helpful to have
parent/public/employee communication tools with a single vendor.
The “Migration to Blackboard Websites” project kick-off meeting was held on
June 29, 2022. The project includes replacement of all school and District
websites, the Hub, and the District’s mobile app. School and department
webmasters will be trained to update their sites using the Blackboard
software. The vendor anticipates the project will run until approximately June
30, 2023. The Communications Department owns the school and District
websites and will be the primary decision maker for the project with IT
providing technical support and assistance.
PEOPLESOFT UPGRADE
SUCCESSFULLY RELEASED
On June 27, the ERP/PeopleSoft teams released a new version of the
software. This update included an Oracle-provided PeopleTools upgrade
which gives PeopleSoft applications the technology to stay in sync with the
needs and expectations of users. The PeopleSoft image was also updated
for HR, Finance, and eLearning which contain new functional enhancements
while retaining the business-required customizations. Both the tools upgrade
and image updates also provide security enhancements.
