P. 16
Greetings TIME readers! As the Director of the IT PMO (Project
Management Office), I look forward to using this forum to provide updates
and information on the PMO team, our projects, and how we assist IT and
the District at-large. For starters, it might be useful to provide an overview of
the IT PMO and what we do.
The IT PMO provides project oversight and management for District
technology initiatives of all sizes. While there is a minimum price of
admission for the project to be assigned a dedicated project manager
(PM), we try to accommodate as many requests for PM assistance as
possible. The IT PMO also seeks to educate District departments and staff
on best practices, the PMO methodology, as well as providing tools to let
departments better manage their own internal projects that might not rise
to the level of needing a dedicated PM. The Project Management Center
for Excellence provides how-to’s, best practices, guides and templates for
anyone interested in running their own project or just learning more about
the PMO methodology. We welcome your feedback, as we’re always looking
for ways to improve and provide more effective content!
The IT PMO currently has 5 Project Managers on staff, with one current
PM
opening for a Senior PM. Beyond myself, Manager Angie Bergt and Senior
PM Al Yonick, the team recently added two Special Projects Coordinators
- Angela Edwards and Diana Nieto. We’re pleased and excited to have
Angela and Diana join our team and look forward to their continued success
in the IT PMO. IT Specialist Dale Blomberg, Trainer and Parentlink Guru is
also a valued member of our team.
Some recent projects that the IT PMO team has completed, collaborated
on, or are nearing completion include:
• Centegix CrisisAlert - District-wide panic button solution
• Fingerprinting Outsourcing - Collection of fingerprints and photos by a
third party vendor
• Fleet-Wide Bus WiFi
• Security Incident Event Management (SIEM) Platform
• Raptor Emergency Management Module (Kara Rubinson, PM)
