NEW STRATEGIC TECHNOLOGY PLAN NEW STRATEGIC TECHNOLOGY PLAN
Every five years, the IT Division, in partnership with Educational Technology,
Performance Accountability, and other stakeholders, formulates a new
Strategic Technology Plan to anticipate the needs of current and future
students and employees. The Technology Plan is an essential component
of our overall strategy to continue to provide cost-effective technology and
infrastructure to improve our business processes, allow teachers to deliver
effective instruction, and provide students with the technology they need to
compete in a global digital economy.
Previous technology plans have provided a path to 1:1 devices, better, faster,
and more ubiquitous internet access, Smartboards in classrooms, Google
Classroom initiatives, as well as programs to help teachers become more
technologically literate, such as the recent successful Trailblazers program.
The long-term planning of major infrastructure projects allows us to build
consensus and achieve buy-in for the significant budget, support, and
operation of our ever-expanding needs. Recent initiatives including the multi-
year District-wide phone upgrade and replacement, teacher laptop refresh,
and WiFi access point upgrades were all planned, budgeted, and targeted for
implementation in previous technology plans.
The new Strategic Technology Plan covers FY 2023 - 2027 and complements
previous plans as well as the overall District Strategic Plan. It includes
input from all IT departments, Ed Tech, Performance Accountability,
Communications, Professional Development, and others. We also formulated
a District-wide survey that provides feedback from educators, administrators,
and staff from many departments. The Plan also seeks to understand and
anticipate the future technology trends for education, in addition to technology
skills that will be useful in the job market.
The plan is currently going through numerous revisions and reviews and
will be presented to District stakeholder committees and the Board for final
approval this Fall. Please look for the updated Strategic Technology Plan
coming soon!
