P. 9
• Superintendent Michael J. Burke, our project champion, followed
the progress of the team very closely and provided encouragement,
enthusiasm and guidance whenever needed. His support was crucial and
greatly appreciated!
• District School Police played a critical role in tailoring the system for
our use, providing maps for uploading to Centegix, and serving as the
business owner for the CrisisAlert application. Chief of Police Sarah
Mooney, Vanessa Snow, Edwin Kunter, and Michael Raikis all deserve
kudos for their effort and engagement.
• The Chief Operating Office played a critical role in identifying schools
under construction, getting keys for the installers, providing intercom
information and configuration for integration with Centegix, and
coordinating with other school maintenance activities like floor waxing.
Chief Operating Officer Joe Sanches, Chief of Facilities David Dolan,
Director of M&PO Stacey Marshall, and their teams did an outstanding job
of clearing the field for the Centegix installers to send multiple teams in to
do the installations.
• Chief of Staff Jay Boggess and Deputy Superintendent/Chief of
Schools Ed Tierney were co-project sponsors, setting expectations,
helping to marshall the necessary resources, and communicating
critical project information, statuses and updates to the principals and
Instructional/Regional Superintendents.
• The IT Infrastructure team also played a key role, as they were
responsible for the installation of gateways at every school before the
Centegix installations could begin. Jorge Burgos, Network Services
Manager, and his team completed that work in a little more than three
weeks, as well as pulling over 90 cable runs to the intercom systems to
allow integration with Centegix.
• Claudia Shea, Director of Communications, and her team handled the
media inquiries and interviews and provided assistance with the Centegix
Hub website.
• The vendor, Centegix, lived up to their end of the bargain by sending
multiple teams to swarm over school campuses and complete the
installation of strobes, hubs, repeaters and solar hubs in less than a day
at most locations. Angie Bergt worked closely with the implementation
manager, Sumner Green, to schedule, communicate and explain the
installations for every school. Training plans and schedules for schools
followed closely behind.
Incredibly, all of the above mentioned teams working in unison, completed 166
schools in 24 days! All schools were operational and trained by August 9th,
which is an amazing accomplishment in a six-week timeline.
Work is already underway to bring CrisisAlert to ancillary sites and co-located
departments. All staff will receive a badge and be trained on how to use it.
Lastly, it’s important to note that Centegix CrisisAlert is a complement to, not a
replacement for, SaferWatch, which was implemented last year.
