Pre-Service
The District’s Pre-Service Program has partnerships with 17 universities, including out-of-state universities as well as
Historically Black Colleges and Universities, to provide classroom experiences or placements for college students resulting
in a degree in Education. Once a college has established an affiliation agreement with the District, its students are able
to complete placements including a semester-long internship. The District works collaboratively with universities to
place students with qualified cooperating educators at the appropriate school or subject level that coincides with the
students’ certification goals. Pre-Service students work with qualified teachers to mirror and model best practices while
in the classroom with students. All interns are hosted by a qualified cooperating educator that has completed the required
Clinical Educator training and, in some cases, a reading endorsement. Interns receive access to District resources such as
professional learning opportunities and access to an interactive Google Classroom. During their pre-service experiences,
the District provides college students with access to all the District has to offer educators.

The District also coordinates and facilitates a quarterly Pre-Service Consortium meeting that brings various stakeholders
together to discuss updates, best practices, and new trends in post-secondary education. Each meeting is designed to
engage consortium members in relevant discussions and learning opportunities that impact public education as well as
the initiatives the District is implementing. FY23 Pre-Service Consortium meetings took place on August 30, 2022, October
20, 2022, January 24, 2023, and April 25, 2023. The consortium meetings are recorded and available for members that were
unable to attend.
