Objective 2: Increase family engagement in supporting student success.

Exceptional Student Education Parent University

The Department of Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Parent University offers a variety of parent training events. Parent
Universities are offered during the week and once a month on Saturdays in English and Spanish.

Topics include:
• The Impact of Trauma on Our Children
• Successful Home School Communication
• Everything You Want to Know About ESE
• Transition
• Child Find and Pre-K ESE Services
• How to Encourage Home Learning
• Inclusion
• Parent Introduction to the Individual Education Plan (IEP)
• Behavior Management Strategies

Over 700 parents participated in one or more Parent University events in FY23.

Family Engagement

In collaboration with the Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County and the Early Learning Coalition of Palm
Beach County, the District developed the Transition to Kindergarten Plan (T2K). Joint efforts with The Education Network
resulted in a multilingual marketing campaign designed to increase awareness of kindergarten readiness and registration
for all families across the county.
