Redesigned District Website
In FY23, the District made tremendous strides in improving its online presence and accessibility by launching a new
and improved website. This comprehensive platform provides a central hub for all relevant information, resources, and
communication for students, parents, and staff. The development and implementation of the website focused on streamlining
the user experience, enhancing content accessibility, and ensuring optimal functionality across devices.
The new website was designed with a responsive, user-friendly interface to ensure seamless navigation for users of all ages
and abilities. A mobile-first design approach was incorporated, optimizing the site for use on smartphones, tablets, and
desktop computers. Additionally, the District ensured Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance by implementing
features such as adjustable font sizes and high-contrast color schemes to cater to users with visual impairments or other
disabilities.
The website features a wealth of easily accessible information with a robust homepage, including school programs, upcoming
events, academic resources, and school announcements. A comprehensive search function allows users to locate specific
content quickly and efficiently.
The website’s development and implementation were successful due to the collaboration of school personnel, District
administrators, and Information Technology (IT) staff allowing for ongoing improvements and refinements based on real-
world experiences.
The new and improved District website has significantly enhanced the online experience for the community, providing a
centralized, user-friendly platform for accessing crucial information and resources. The District is committed to continuous
improvement and will continue to seek user feedback and incorporate enhancements to ensure the website remains a
valuable tool.
Student Attendance, Truancy, and Re-Engagement
During the FY23 school year, the Student Attendance, Truancy, and Re-Engagement team primarily focused on addressing
chronic absenteeism and truancy. Case managers and social services facilitators from the Department of Safe Schools
directly supported schools to assist students with excessive absences. The team assisted with parent phone calls, conducted
home visits, provided training, attended School-Based Team meetings, suggested interventions, and provided referrals to
outside agencies to help mitigate barriers to student attendance.
The percentage of students with 11 or more absences in FY23 decreased by 1.4% compared to FY22. Numerous community
partnerships, such as the Children’s Services Council, Children’s Home Society, Urban League of Palm Beach County, Florida
Department of Children and Families, and Hope Florida, were leveraged to provide services to families.
Additionally, the District supported students identified as habitual truants by inviting families to attend a District Attendance
Review Committee. The committee’s purpose is to bring together a problem-solving team of professionals from the school,
District, and community agencies to assist the families with mitigating barriers to student attendance. Case management
and the coordination of services are provided to the families to assist with improving student attendance.
