Student Wi-Fi Project - Digital Inclusion Initiative

The Digital Inclusion Initiative aims to grant all students, regardless of zip code, access to reliable internet in their homes.
The Municipality Wi-Fi Project is made possible through a partnership between local municipalities, Palm Beach County,
The Education Foundation of Palm Beach County, and The School District of Palm Beach County. It is focused on Wi-Fi
hardware mounted on vertical assets, such as poles, around densely populated areas. The 17 municipalities in this initiative
are Belle Glade, South Bay, Pahokee, Canal Point, Lake Worth Beach, Riviera Beach, West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach,
Delray Beach, Greenacres, Palm Springs, Haverhill, Lantana, Lake Park, Mangonia Park, Hypoluxo, and Unincorporated
        Palm Beach County.
Approximately 1,400 Wi-Fi extenders have been deployed to students in the Lantana and Belle Glade areas. The deployment
will continue as the county builds out the Wi-Fi mesh network. While the long-term solution of the Wi-Fi mesh network is
built out in each of the municipalities, students connect to in-home broadband internet with a Comcast Internet Essentials
Sponsorship or T-Mobile Hotspot. There were 427 Comcast Internet Essentials Sponsorships and 1,019 T-Mobile hotspots
used by students throughout the District in FY23.
