Student/Parent Portal

The Division of Information Technology implemented an improved Enterprise Portal for students and employees. The
portal will continue to be the primary point of entry to access student and employee web-based software applications while
providing the same access and experience when logged in from home. The new portal is accessible to all District-operated
schools, students, and employees, in addition to charter school employees.

The portal offers four primary benefits to students and employees, including:
          • All web-based applications are behind a secure portal, even when connecting from home.
          • Students and employees are automatically and securely logged into most applications and systems without entering
their username and password multiple times.
          • Students and employees do not need to remember (or bookmark) addresses to many software applications or recall
unique usernames and passwords for multiple applications.
          • A cloud-based platform, which means it should remain available to students and employees even during internal
             technical outages.
The Chrome browser “home page” of computers within the District network defaults to the portal login page. To access the
portal from home, students and employees may go to the District website and click “Sign In” at the top right. Students and
employees must use their District network username and password to log in.
A new Parent Portal is in the initial planning phase and will allow parents to experience many of the features currently
        available to students and employees.

        Supporting the Enterprise

The IT Enterprise Applications team administers and supports enterprise-level applications across the District. The team
also builds custom solutions to support District business, operational, compliance, and educational needs. The team is
responsible for data integrations, provisioning, endpoint management, and support for Software-as-a-Solution applications.

In FY23, the team transitioned the Student Information System platform and District Portal to the cloud, providing better
security, access, and availability to these critical District applications. The Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) technical
team completed a PeopleSoft tools upgrade, remote worker functionality development, Department of Education staff
reporting, teacher evaluations, and Human Resources acuity tracking/reporting software for professional standards.

The team performed an application upgrade and introduced better mobile capabilities in addition to advanced reporting
and dashboards. Custom applications developed in FY23 include apps for District bulletins, Title I funding, classroom
library reviews, and multi-factor authentication support.
