52 SUPERINTENDENT ANNUAL REPORTMigrant Education ProgramThrough the Migrant Education Program (MEP) federal grant, the Department of Multicultural Education serves students whose parents have moved across school district or state lines for qualifying agricultural or fishing work. In FY26, the MEP provided academic assistance and resources to more than 1,180 students from migrant families, including a specialized math and ELA tutoring initiative across 10 schools. The program strengthened community ties through events such as Festival De Familia, the Parent Education Program, and the Annual Holiday Jubilee with Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts. The MEP also hosted FAFSA nights in collaboration with the Welcome Center to ensure financial barriers do not hinder student success. A notable event in FY26 was a college tour in which students visited five universities and met with MEP alumni.Parents graduate from the migrant parent education course. MEP grade 11 students visit USF, UCF, FSU, FAU, and PBSC during a three-day college tour.
