Access for All: A Digital Inclusion Initiative

The goal of the Digital Inclusion project is to grant all students, regardless of zip code, access to
reliable internet access in their homes. The Municipality WiFi project is generated through a
partnership between local municipalities, Palm Beach County, The Education Foundation of
Palm Beach County, and The School District of Palm Beach County. The project is focused on
WiFi hardware being mounted on vertical assets, such as poles, around densely populated
areas where families have indicated they do not have internet access.

               Key Components include:
                   ● The WiFi mesh network is safe and meets federal guidelines.
                   ● It is not 5G technology. It is a simple radio that connects broadband service to residences using
                       WiFi extenders.
                   ● The municipal WiFi network in select areas will provide free wireless internet access for Palm
                       Beach County students who qualify.
                   ● To qualify, students must reside within one of the priority coverage areas (once installed), attend a
Palm Beach County public school, and have household incomes that qualify for free or reduced
                       meals.
                   ● Work is underway to build the WiFi mesh network in the following municipalities: Belle Glade,
South Bay, Pahokee, Canal Point, Lake Worth Beach, Riviera Beach, West Palm Beach, Boynton
Beach, Delray Beach, Greenacres, Palm Springs, Haverhill, Lantana, Lake Park, Mangonia Park,
Hypoluxo, and Unincorporated Palm Beach County.

               Interactive Classroom
The “Interactive Classroom” is the established configuration for all School District of Palm Beach
County classrooms. All standard classrooms are equipped with a fixed display on the teaching
wall, a mobile interactive flat panel display, a sound-field enhancement system, a document
camera, and a webcam. This degree of technology integration transforms classrooms into
               digitally rich, personalized learning environments.
