Scholastic eSports

The School District recognizes the importance of emerging technology trends and evaluating
their effectiveness in schools. One such trend that has started to take hold in high schools
across the country is the concept of scholastic eSports. Scholastic eSports focuses beyond the
game and on the entire ecosystem of eSports, including the business side, the IT components,
and the advertising and marketing sides.

Continuing to adapt and adjust, the district will work to allow all secondary schools to have the
opportunity to build eSports teams to engage students and help them learn soft skills and proper
competition. There are also opportunities to incorporate eSports into the school day and provide
instruction in areas like marketing, social media, graphic design, and shoutcasting. A current
pilot at five district schools in FY22 has yielded positive results in the area of student interest
and involvement.

Technology Enhanced, Digitally Rich Instructional Cycle

The School District of Palm Beach County strives to strategically support
all teachers in meeting the academic and SEL needs of every student. To
achieve this and ensure that instruction is aligned and effective, the
district provides comprehensive resources to all teachers and supports
the integration of classroom technologies. This commitment positively
impacts the performance of all students at every point along the
instructional cycle. The ongoing process of developing the tools,
resources, and support follows a continuous improvement model so that
district technology resources and support mechanisms are constantly
evaluated and updated.
