Introduction

             Executive Summary

Enabling nationwide technology to provide equitable and accessible all-the-time learning
In planning for the future, it’s helpful to review the past in order to gauge progress, successes, and find
areas for improvement. Our previous technology plan covering 2017-2022, anticipated and helped to
prepare for the ever-increasing role technology plays in providing tools for learning and success for our
             students.

The new five-year Technology Plan, covering FY 2023-2027, seeks to build and expand upon previous
plans by continuing to implement, leverage, and maintain technology solutions that align with the most
recent FLDOE Technology Plan and help achieve the goals of the District’s overall 5-year Strategic
             Plan to “Educate! Affirm! Inspire!”

The theme for the FY 2023-2027 Technology Plan, “Enabling nationwide technology to provide
equitable and accessible all-the-time learning,” emphasizes both the necessity to provide equity in
access and learning opportunities as well as providing technology tools and systems to help educators
improve student achievement and preparedness for the global economy.

By building, maintaining, and expanding our overall technology portfolio, we can help bridge the digital
divide, provide personalized learning, and support technology-based assessment.

1:1 Student Devices is a game-changer for bringing more equitable access to technology, educational
resources, and personalized learning for all students. Providing secure, stable, robust, and redundant
internet, network, and server connectivity are critical to providing the foundation for all of our
classroom, testing, and online technology initiatives. The interconnected nature of these technologies
means that the underlying infrastructure is critical to the overall learning experience. This is recognized
and reflected in the current technology plan as we continue to invest in expanding the capacity,
availability, and redundancy of the network, high-speed internet access, cybersecurity, application
platforms, and devices to access them.

Progress can be measured by setting realistic, attainable goals, and monitoring how close we are to
reaching them. Analyzing data and establishing metrics for measuring improvement, and adjusting
resources where necessary, will allow us to attain the high performance culture and cycle of
continuous improvement needed to unlock the full potential of administrators, faculty, and students.

By expanding the Digital Classroom model and providing ongoing support and technology training for
educators, we can build an infrastructure that allows students to engage anywhere, anytime
personalized learning opportunities. Through collaborative efforts amongst Information Technology
(IT), Educational Technology (Ed Tech), Academics, K-12 Curriculum, Professional Development,
Performance & Accountability, and other departments to plan, engage, and implement proven
technology-based concepts in the classroom, we can fulfill the transformational promise of technology
to provide the educational experiences, growth, and achievement that all students deserve.

In today’s ever-changing world, technology plays an ever-greater role in helping students achieve
academic success. In our view, technology is the catalyst to produce high-quality, personalized, and
blended teaching and learning based on accepted standards.

Technology alone is not a panacea to academic success for our students, it must be part of an overall
strategy to enhance the instruction, culture, professional development, and systems-support to
integrate this technology into the classroom.
