Enterprise Resource Planning, PeopleSoft ERP
The PeopleSoft ERP is the District’s enterprise system for Human Capital Management
(HCM), Financial (FIN) and staff eLearning (ELM) applications. With approximately 1,000
daily users and 25,000 casual users, these applications provide for accurate and timely
transactional processing and reporting of staff and financial information to the District,
government agencies, unions/associations, third party vendors, and the general community.
The goals for PeopleSoft for the next five years are:
The PeopleSoft system is going to undergo some exciting, but major transformations via
planned People Tools v8.55 and Application v9.2 upgrades. The user experience will be
changing to a Fluid User Interface. A major benefit of the improved interface is that the
application will adapt presentation to the device size, including mobile support. Additionally,
homepage tiles, a new navigation structure, work centers, streamlined process flows,
advanced forms technology, and other new functions and features will be introduced to
improve the user experience. These efforts will enhance PeopleSoft and help build system
capacity for supporting District initiatives.
As part of the upgrades, all customized Crystal Reports will be converted to Business
Intelligence (BI) Publisher reports. Queries will also be analyzed for usage and ease of
access. Lastly, an archival initiative will include analyzing the large volume of data (10+
years) to identify opportunities to archive or remove historical data, resulting in improved
system performance.
