               Working with Students

The major duty required of a bus attendant is to care for students while they are on the bus. This
means that drivers and attendants should remain alert at all times to make certain the students
are safe, following the bus rules, and are not in any danger. The bus attendant must also assist the
bus driver, parents, and school personnel with the loading and unloading of students at bus stops
               and school centers.

The Driver and the Attendant MUST work in tandem.

 When the route has small students or students with disabilities needing guidance up or down the
steps, the driver attendant must work in tandem in assisting those. The driver should remain at
the top of the steps and the attendant should be at the bottom of the steps before the student
begins the steps. Student should NOT be steadied by holding onto the book bag or safety vest
                       straps.
