Healthy School Teams (HST)

Creating a Wellness Culture on School Campuses

The State of Florida requires that every school must have a Healthy School Team (HST) – no exceptions since
FY16. While there are some federal and state requirements that are mandatory, each HST has a tremendous
amount of autonomy.

Our schools are encouraged to develop a diverse team to create a “Wellness Culture” on campus that aligns
with the principal’s vision and best serves the needs of their students. Our recommendation is always to
invite the following members to participate on the team to ensure all health and wellness perspectives were
incorporated:

Administrators School Counselor
Afterschool Director School Food Service Manager

Community Members School Nurse
Parents Teachers
Physical Education Teacher Wellness Champion (Staff Wellness)
