115Immersive ExperiencesThis year, we significantly expanded our students%u2019 exposure to agriculture and food systems through highimpact, field-based opportunities. These experiences served as a living classroom, successfully bridging academic theory with real-world practice. %u2022 Field Trip in a Box: Promoted the Virtual Farm Field Trip Pilot %u201cField Trip in a Box%u201d from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services reaching more than 450 elementary students across nine (9) schools, successfully extending agricultural literacy.%u2022 Leadership Engagement: Filmed a garden episode of the Burke at Work video series on March 21, 2025 at Lake Shore Middle, featuring our Superintendent Michael Burke, engaging students in garden activities with District leadership.%u2022 The Journey of Our Food (Grades 6%u201312): Coordinated Farm Field Trips for 250 students to Stitt Ranch and Performance Packaging in Clewiston, deepening understanding of STEM, plant biology, nutrition, and food systems. At Stitt Ranch, students explored and tasted the harvest in this unique hands-on experience. Further academic ties were reinforced with a visit to a packaging plant, where students observed harvested vegetables being packaged for distribution. Lessons in supply chains, economics, and environmental sustainability came alive, highlighting local agriculture%u2019s impact on the community.Through the blending of education and hands-on activities, students gained a deeper understanding of their academic lessons and forged a connection with their food%u2019s origins. This experiential learning underscored that education thrives beyond textbooks and classrooms when students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world around them.Physical Environment
