119MEP implemented its Extended Learning Opportunity Tutoring Program in 10 schools (including 7 in the Glades Region), serving more than 200 migrant students, of which 180 were from the Glades. These afterschool tutoring sessions offered targeted instructional support in core content areas including Language Arts and Mathematics.Social Services Facilitators played a vital role in connecting families with essential community resources%u2014ranging from housing and food assistance to health referrals and counseling%u2014ensuring students%u2019 basic needs were met to promote consistent school attendance and academic focus.Additionally, four migrant seniors from the Class of 2025 were each awarded the Palm Beach Migrant Education Scholarship ($500 each), funded through local fundraising efforts and generous community donors. The program also celebrated a remarkable achievement with the Migrant Education Graduation Rate rising from 86.6% in FY23 to 94.9% in FY24, and reached 93.94% in FY25. This sustained achievement reflects the program%u2019s ongoing effectiveness and commitment to supporting migrant students toward academic success. Workshops and Educational EventsThe Migrant Education Program expanded learning beyond the classroom through enriching field experiences and cultural exposure opportunities. Through partnership with the Sierra Club%u2019s Palm Beach County Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO) Program, more than 40 migrant students participated in educational field trips to Jonathan Dickinson State Park, Big Cypress National Preserve, and the Loggerhead Marinelife Center. Participation served as an incentive for students maintaining strong attendance in the tutoring program.Through the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts%u2019 Kravis on Broadway Youth Initiative, migrant students from Lake Shore Middle engaged in a hands-on performance workshop led by a local teaching artist, attended the opening night of Peter Pan, and participated in a post-show Q&A with the cast%u2014an initiative designed to promote arts engagement and cultural dialogue.On December 5, 2024, the MEP hosted its annual Parent Meeting in collaboration with the University of South Florida%u2019s College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP). The District continues to lead the state in the number of migrant students attending USF through CAMP, with 8 of the 27 freshmen participants representing Palm Beach County.Recruitment and Community OutreachTo strengthen school-family-community relationships, the MEP hosted two Open House Family Events in September 2024%u2014at Lake Shore Middle and Lake Worth Community High%u2014where families met MEP staff and community partners to learn about available services and support.%u2022 18 community partners/agencies participated and shared information%u2022 Over 300 migrant students and family members attended%u2022 Backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed to studentsThe Department also hosted a FAFSA Night at West Tech Education Center, providing one-on-one assistance for parents and students completing federal financial aid applications. Supported by Palm Beach State College TRIO staff, 10 families successfully completed their FAFSA during the event.Family Engagement
