118 FY25 Wellness Promotion Policy (WPP) Annual Report Back to MenuFamily EngagementThe Department of Multicultural Education continues to foster meaningful connections among schools, students, and families by offering programs and services that support multilingual learners and migrant families throughout Palm Beach County. These efforts ensure that families feel welcomed, informed, and empowered to participate actively in their children%u2019s education and long-term academic success.Welcome CenterThe Department%u2019s Welcome Center remains the first point of contact for multilingual learners and their families entering the School District of Palm Beach County. The center provides comprehensive support designed to ease the transition into District schools and promote equitable access to educational opportunities.Student and Family Support ServicesThe Welcome Center assisted families with new student registrations, immunization appointments, and school placements in accordance with District zoning policies. Social Services Facilitators provided individualized support by connecting families to vital community resources such as housing, food assistance, health care, and counseling. In collaboration with community partners, the Welcome Center hosted FAFSA Nights, offering multilingual assistance to students and families navigating the college financial aid process.Workshops and Educational EventsTo further engage families, the Welcome Center delivered workshops and information sessions on topics such as navigating the U.S. school system, mental health, and academic support at home, empowering parents to actively participate in their children%u2019s education. Additionally, the center conducted Foreign Transcript Evaluation Trainings for School Counselors and Registrars to ensure accurate academic placement for international students and equitable access to advanced coursework.Migrant Education Program (MEP)The MEP continued its commitment to supporting migrant students and their families by providing comprehensive range of services aimed at improving academic performance, increasing graduation rates, and promoting overall well-being.Student Academic Support ServicesIn FY25, the MEP identified and recruited over 2,000 migrant students across the District, with 25% classified as Priority for Services%u2014students who recently moved into the District and exhibited one or more at-risk factors, such as an age-grade discrepancy, low English proficiency, or learning difficulties.
