57State-Mandated Instruction (Resiliency, Human Trafficking, Substance Abuse)School counselors support the implementation of state-mandated instruction on substance abuse and child trafficking prevention education, and resiliency education. Students in grades K%u201312 received age-appropriate lessons on child trafficking and substance abuse awareness and prevention, while students in grades 6%u201312 were provided with the required five hours of annual resiliency education. These lessons were delivered through ReThink Ed and supplemented with resources from the District%u2019s Community Agency Toolkit. By leveraging both digital and community-based resources, the School Counseling Team ensured that instruction was engaging, accessible, and aligned with state standards.Graduation SupportJumpStart ProgramThe District continued its JumpStart Programs, designed to accelerate students who were performing below their grade-level cohort. During the summer of 2024, 27 rising 9th graders participated in JumpStart to High School, with 19 successfully promoted to the next grade level. Additionally, 26 rising 6th graders participated in JumpStart to Middle School, with 22 successfully transitioning to the next grade level. These programs directly impacted student wellness by reducing retention, restoring student confidence, and ensuring that vulnerable students remained on track toward high school graduation. The success of JumpStart reflects a collaborative effort among school counselors, administrators, teachers, and district staff, reinforcing a commitment to equity and opportunity for all students.Graduation CoachesLiteracy AmeriCorps Graduation Coaches served at four comprehensive high shools%u2014Boynton Beach Community High, Forest Hill Community High, Lake Worth Community High, and Palm Beach Lakes Community High%u2014where they provided academic monitoring, attendance support, and assistance with removing barriers for students at risk of not graduating. Their presence ensured that struggling students received individualized guidance and resources to help them meet graduation requirements and prepare for post-secondary pathways.Family & Community EngagementFamily and community partnerships played a pivotal role in the District%u2019s school counseling initiatives in FY25. The District School Counseling Team initiated virtual meetings known as FACES (Family and Caregiver Engagement Sessions) to empower parents and caregivers with strategies that promote their child%u2019s wellbeing and academic success. Four virtual sessions were conducted, covering topics such as %u201cStrengthening Your Child%u2019s Mental Health and Well-being,%u201d %u201cSupporting Healthy Social Media Use,%u201d %u201cHuman Trafficking Awareness and Prevention,%u201d and %u201cStudent Mental Health and Awareness.%u201d The objective was to enhance participant knowledge by at least 70%, as assessed through post-workshop surveys. The results significantly surpassed this goal, with 92.86% of participants reporting that the sessions helped them support their child either %u201cSignificantly%u201d or %u201cModerately.%u201d The success of this program can be attributed to expert presenters, promotion through schools, and the creation of a FACES webpage that provides ongoing resources.Through these initiatives, the School Counseling Team demonstrated its commitment to advancing student wellness and academic achievement across all grade levels.
