58 FY25 Wellness Promotion Policy (WPP) Annual Report Back to MenuDepartment of Behavioral and Mental Health As children and youth experiencing behavioral or mental health concerns have increased, school-based mental health care has become a vital part of a multi-tiered system of support. Students who are mentally healthy are more likely to go to school ready to learn, actively engage in school activities, build supportive and caring connections with others, apply effective problem-solving skills, and contribute to a positive school culture. The Behavioral and Mental Health Framework provides a road map for schools to follow when creating new and aligning existing resources. This Framework leverages the unique skill sets of various professionals (e.g., school counselors, school psychologists, school behavioral health professionals, and co-located mental health professionals) to deliver a range of services that enhance student well-being. Additionally, students and families can access further support through our 28 service providers with Behavioral Health Agreements, ensuring a continuum of services is available to all.Figure 1Aligning School-Based and Community-Based InterventionsBehavioral/Mental Health, Psychological & Counseling Services
