62 FY25 Wellness Promotion Policy (WPP) Annual Report Back to MenuCrisis, Assessment, Prevention, Education, and Support Teams (CAPE Support Teams)Crisis Management & Support Services for Individual Students in Crisis%u25cf CAPE Support Services is a team of highly skilled and credentialed professionals with expertise in crisis management, particularly focusing on mental health, behavioral health, and students with disabilities.%u25cf This team provides services to help schools, families, and students address individual student mental health crisis events.o The CAPE Support Services include: %u0082 Preventative mental health and crisis management supports and training/psychoeducation %u0082 Crisis interventions, including suicide screening and assessment, are provided when a student experiences a mental health crisis %u0082 A multidisciplinary approach that incorporates schools, families, community programs, hospitals, and school district initiatives to support a student%u2019s successful transition to school following hospitalization%u0082 Mentoring services for students waiting to transition to community-based mental health or mentoring services%u25cf CAPE Support Services provided school-based professional learning on the following topics:o De-escalation at a Glanceo Non-Suicidal Self-Injurieso Trauma and Its Impact on the Braino Trauma-Informed Practiceso Mental Health: Student Support for Re-entryo Impact of Social Media on Youth Mental Healtho Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA)o SRA/IERS compliance and documentation o Coordination of the state designation for Suicide Prevention Certified Schools%u25cf The need for support has increased significantly in the past two years:Behavioral/Mental Health, Psychological & Counseling ServicesCAPE Support Services - Intake Calls Increased NeedFY23 - 603 FY24 - 1,186 97% FY24 - 1,186 FY25 - 1,298 9.4% The %u201cSuicide Prevention Certified School%u201d designation is provided by the Florida Department of Education (FDOE). Schools must meet the following requirements:%u25cf All instructional personnel are required to complete two hours of department-approved youth suicide awareness and prevention training every three years.%u25cf The youth suicide awareness and prevention training must be included in the District%u2019s continuing education or master in-service plan.%u25cf The school must have at least two school-based mental health services providers who are qualified to conduct a suicide risk assessment using a department-approved screening instrument.Suicide Prevention Certified Schools
