The program, now in its fourth year in the District, prepared students to enter the workforce as certified BHTs upon graduation. The program aimed to build a diverse and skilled pipeline of behavioral health professionals, complementing traditional medical studies with applied learning in psychology, crisis intervention, and patient-centered care. Students completed hands-on projects, including Brain Architecture Projects that illustrated the effects of trauma and positive relationships on neural development, and created personalized Coping Boxes to practice self-care and resilience; essential skills for their future careers.Students also engaged with higher education and professional practice through guest lectures, including a session on trauma-informed care led by a Florida Atlantic University professor. These experiences equipped students with the knowledge and skills necessary for the BHT certification exam and supported their transition into pre-medical tracks, psychology programs, and careers in healthcare.Teachers, including Ms. Michelle Lynne, led the program with a focus on rigorous academics, emotional intelligence, and community wellness. Through this initiative, West Boca Community High%u2019s BHT Program continued to transform the high school experience into meaningful career preparation while addressing the growing behavioral health workforce shortage in Florida.Creating Coping Boxes for the BHT Class, Suicide Awareness and Prevention Day.
