                                    66 FY25 Wellness Promotion Policy (WPP) Annual Report Back to MenuSchool Behavioral Health ProfessionalsSchool Behavioral Health Professionals (SBHP) were presents in 177 schools across the District. The roles of the SBHP are to:%u008a Facilitate programs throughout the school to teach students, teachers, and staff about prevention, early identification of concerns, and addressing behavioral and mental health challenges.%u008a Provide individual and small group skill building sessions to address challenging thoughts and behaviors.%u008a Initiate or support school climate efforts (e.g., Suicide Awareness Month, Red Ribbon Week, Kindness Week, Mental Health Awareness Month and Get Your Green On (GYGO), We Dine Together, Safe School Ambassadors, etc.), classroom presentations, and teaching mindfulness.%u008a Assist students and families in locating behavioral and mental health services to address significant challenges and concerns.%u008a Provide services that assist with early identification of concerns and help to reduce the stigma associated with mental health concerns.%u008a Serve as members of the school%u2019s mental health and problem-solving teams.%u008a Receive onboarding, coaching, consultation, and professional development from EPIC (Education, Prevention, Intervention and Collaboration) Team in the Department of Behavioral and Mental Health.The SBHP participated in a series of activities, (e.g., book study and online and in person training) to learn and incoporate trauma-informed, arts-based strategies to promote the mental wellness of the students and families called NeuroArts. NeuroArts is the study of how the arts measurably change the brain and body and how this knowledge is translated into practices that advance health and well-being.SBHP logged their daily activities and interventions through the Caring First system.
