92 FY25 Wellness Promotion Policy (WPP) Annual Report Back to MenuHealth ServicesHealth Services is a key component of our %u201cCoordinated School Health Program%u201d. It is designed to provide emergency care for illness or injury, prevent and control communicable disease and other health problems, and promote a safe school environment. %u2022 The provision of these health services is achieved through collaboration between the Health Care District of Palm Beach County (HCD), the Florida Department of Health (DOH) in Palm Beach County, and The School District of Palm Beach County (SDPBC).%u2022 School health partners play an essential role in providing daily basic health care to students.Florida Administrative Code 64F-6.003 mandates health screenings for non-exempt students. These screenings are conducted to identify students with emerging health conditions that may require referral to primary health care providers for further evaluation. Vision and hearing screenings may also occur at the request of teachers/parents. %u2022 Vision screenings are mandated for students in grades K, 1, 3, and 6, as well as for those entering Florida schools for the first time in grades K-5. %u2022 Hearing screenings are mandated for grades K, 1, 6, and for students entering Florida schools for the first time in grades K-5. %u2022 Growth & Development screenings are mandated for grades 1, 3, 6, with grade 9 as an optional screening. %u2022 Scoliosis screenings are mandated to students in grade 6.Health Screenings:%u008a Vision: 51,757%u008a Hearing: 37,185%u008a Growth & Development: 36,359%u008a Scoliosis screening: 11,401 Total Screenings: 136,702School Health Services Program ManagementStudent Health Screenings
