95Health ServicesAnaphylaxis is a serious and potentially fatal allergic reaction that occurs suddenly. While known food allergies are a common cause, up to one-quarter of anaphylactic reactions in schools involve students with a previously undiagnosed allergy. Epinephrine is the only first-line treatment for anaphylaxis and has been proven to be extremely safe in auto-injector doses without causing long-term side effects.In an effort to help improve access to epinephrine in the event a person experiences a life-threatening allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) in the school settings, our school health partners collaborated to bring the EpiPens4Schools program to Palm Beach County. The program established a standing order and protocol for EpiPen administration, ensuring all schools in District maintain an on-hand supply.Our school health partners have continued their collaboration with the EpiPens4Schools Program, ensuring stock epinephrine auto-injectors were available in schools throughout FY25. This partnership will carry into FY26, reinforcing our commitment to student safety and preparedness in the event of anaphylactic emergencies.EpiPens4Schools ProgramIn collaboration with our community health partners, we provided outstanding prevention programs to address and prevent health issues within schools. In FY25, we partnered with the Health Care District of Palm Beach County (HCD) to provide COVID-19 and Influenza screening and testing to symptomatic students. Other preventive health intervention services provided via partnership with HCD and Florida Department of Health (DOH) in Palm Beach County were health screenings, including hearing, vision, growth & development, and scoliosis. In response to Communicable Disease Control, the DOH in Palm Beach County%u2019s School Health Division offered immunization expertise by reviewing student records and providing immunization training and education. The DOH in Palm Beach County Epidemiology Department provided expert guidance in responding to communicable disease cases.Prevention Programs
