The Multiagency Network for Students
with Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities

The Multiagency Service Network for Students with Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities (SEDNET) creates and facilitates a network of key stakeholders committed to promoting a quality, comprehensive system of care for children with, or at-risk of, emotional/behavioral disabilities (E/BD) and their families. SEDNET helped ensure that the needs of youth with or at-risk of E/BD were being met through facilitation, collaboration and direct intervention as well as training, research and program development.

SEDNET’s interagency collaboration and linkage efforts constitute the primary focus of SEDNET efforts and the foundation for SEDNET initiatives. Mental health and substance abuse service system partners collaborated with SEDNET through interagency committees and agreements.

SEDNET partnered with community organizations to provide cross agency training for families, educators, child welfare workers and community partners.

SEDNET brought key systems and agencies with common missions and programs to the table to share or coordinated resources for the purpose of maximizing the effectiveness and efficiency in addressing the needs of children and families.

SEDNET’s areas of focus were:

SEDNET played an integral role in the planning and execution of the “Everybody’s A Teacher” Educational Summits held on April 8, 2011 and October 28, 2011. The goal of “Everybody’s A Teacher” is to improve educational outcomes for children in foster care. Below is a photo of the SEDNET Project Manager and Adam Azan at the Summit in October 8, 2011. Adam Azan, age 14, is the founder of Bags N' Stuff, Inc. a charitable organization that collected donated luggage, stuffed them with essentials like pillows, blankets and toiletries, and delivered them to foster care facilities. Adam heard that most children in foster care use garbage bags when they move to a new placement and he turned to fellow classmates to help make a difference.
