Assistant Principals Induction Program

The Assistant Principals Induction Program is designed to support new assistant principals during the first two years of
their administrative careers. The program provides job-embedded, real-world learning experiences. All assistant principals
participating in this program are assigned an assistant principal mentor and engage in collaborative sessions with their
mentors and members of senior leadership. During FY24, the Department of Leadership Development supported over 40
newly appointed assistant principals and mentors.

        Preparing Future Principals Program

        The Preparing Future Principals Program
        is a comprehensive, one-year leadership
        preparation program for extraordinarily
        motivated and highly effective assistant
principals and District leaders aspiring to
become principals. It is based on the Florida
        Educational Leadership Standards and
aligns with the District’s Strategic Plan.

In this program, future principals engage in
        rigorous and relevant instructional leadership
experiences, including a personalized plan for
leadership activities at the school site.

This year’s program hosted 22 participants,
positively impacting over 20 schools and
        three departments. Future principals

        Principal Induction Academy

In FY24, the Department of Leadership
Development launched a new program, the
        Principal Induction Academy. This program
provided monthly opportunities for first and
        second-year principals to collaborate with
peers in a PLC facilitated by experienced
principals. The program focused on current
leadership topics such as student safety,
        creating supportive cultures, continuous
        improvement in instruction, upcoming
tasks, and addressing problems of practice.
Designed by principals and for principals,
the inaugural cohort supported more than
15 principals during their first or second year
        in their new role.
