Supporting District Technology

The Information Technology (IT) Division provides devices, infrastructure, applications, and support to allow District
students, teachers, staff, and administrators safe, secure, and equitable access to technology. In FY24, the IT Division had
an impactful and successful year. This is evident as a result of completing the following initiatives:

Refresh and Maintenance of Student Chromebooks
          • 26,000+ Chromebooks repaired at a cost of over $2 million.
          • 28,000+ New Chromebooks distributed to schools to replace obsolete or unrepairable devices.

        Technology Infrastructure
          • New and updated technology infrastructure was provided for West Boynton MS, Dr. Joaquín García HS, Melaleuca ES,
and other school and District sites undergoing renovations.
          • Internet bandwidth increased by 25% (from 150 GB to 200 GB) to support students' expanding digital education
            needs.
          • Refreshed WAN/LAN switches, 3000+ additional Wireless Access Points. Local Area Network and Wide Area Network
switches allow devices to connect to and communicate across our network and access the Internet.
          • E-rate will provide savings of over $10 million to the District.

        Student Information System Document Center
IT successfully converted the student cumulative folder records maintained by schools from paper to digital format. This
project significantly reduced the effort required to collect and maintain student records. During FY24, the conversion of all
        elementary school records was completed.

        Universal Student Identification
IT partnered with the Operations Division to provide standardized student identification for all District schools.

        Classroom Library Inventories
          • Collaborated with Library Media Services to provide an online, searchable catalog for all District classroom media.
          • Created 5,158 classroom libraries and 227,000 unique media titles.
          • Added 1.8 million library materials across the District.

Here Comes the Bus Parent App
The new public-facing mobile application allows parents and guardians to receive mobile and email notifications for bus
pick-up, drop-off, and bus school arrival.

        Additional projects completed in FY24:

          • Raptor Volunteer Module
          • First Responder Radio Upgrade
          • Annual Security Awareness Campaign
          • Admin Computer Refresh Project
