Pre-Apprentice and Apprentice Programs
The Department of Adult and Community Education
continued its rapid expansion of pre-apprentice locations
to serve all areas of the county while increasing the
enrollment of apprentices. The District now offers
apprenticeships for the first time in nearly 25 years. The
graph below shows the apprenticeship expansion from zero
in FY21 to 285 in FY24. Current programs include Electricity,
Plumbing, Carpentry, and Heating, Ventilation, and Air-
Conditioning (HVAC). In addition to pre-apprenticeship
and apprenticeship, we offer medical programs, a
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), and an Administrative
Office Specialist program to meet the rising workforce
demand. Looking forward, the District plans to strategically
locate five technical centers with workforce programs in
every geographic region of the county.

Accredited Institutions
Two adult education institutions, West Technical Education Center and Chuck Shaw Technical Education Center, became
fully accredited in FY23, and expanded their list of accredited programs offered in FY24. These locations are the first adult
education sites to receive accreditation in over 25 years in Palm Beach County. Future sites to enter the accreditation
process include Delray Full Service Adult Education Center (Historic Carver), Roosevelt Full Service Adult Education
Center (Historic Roosevelt), and North Technical Education Center.
