Elevating Student Voice and Choice in Educational Experiences
The District’s commitment to prioritizing collaboration through student voice is evident in its belief that it leads students to
understand the value of their voices and feel empowered. This fosters positive and respectful learning experiences, creating
a more rigorous learning environment where all students feel safe and included. To achieve this vision, the District embarked
on a collaborative effort by implementing District-wide initiatives to cultivate a school culture conducive to positive peer-
to-peer relationships. Additional resources, such as the “Elevating Student Voice Through Peer-to-Peer Relationships: A
Playbook for Palm Beach County Schools,” were created to support school leaders in designing formal structures. This guide
assists leaders in implementing systems for student voice, ultimately embedding positive peer-to-peer relationships into the
school culture and promoting student empowerment.
The District took an active role in collaborating with Impact Florida adult advisors, enabling secondary students to attend
workshops aimed at equipping them with tools and strategies to implement this initiative. The student voice initiative
workgroup conducted an interactive virtual session focused specifically on adult advisors working with elementary students.
The District also proactively secured a grant for school staff with stipends to lead this initiative at their respective schools.
