Objective 2: Increase family engagement in supporting student success

        Transition to Kindergarten

The FY24 Transition to Kindergarten (T2K) Plan focused on building solid partnerships and
providing comprehensive resources to prepare children, families, and schools for a smooth
transition. Initiatives included Kindergarten Readiness Kits with instructional videos, a Family
Resources folder for principals, and an “Unboxing the Kindergarten Readiness Kit” video for
Kindergarten Roundup events. Parent webinars offered support in multiple languages, addressed
common parent concerns, and provided practical resources.

The T2K plan utilized a comprehensive communication strategy to reach all corners of our community. This included:
          • Multilingual Media: Television, radio broadcasts, and social media in three languages
          • Marketing: Billboards, posters, flyers, and direct mail postcards
          • Direct Communication: The superintendent and School Board participated in community outreach events.
          • Digital Access: A dedicated T2K website provided information and a QR code guided parents to our streamlined
            online registration.

The Principal’s Read Program further strengthened the District’s collaboration with the Early Learning Coalition. Principals
visited feeder Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) programs to promote positive relationships and a love for reading.

Further strengthening the bridge to kindergarten, the newly established T2K Ambassador Program fostered collaboration
between Title I elementary schools, families, and VPK providers. This program ensured all stakeholders were well-equipped
to navigate the kindergarten transition successfully. The T2K Ambassadors collaborated with VPK centers to assist families
through workshops and information sessions in this program. They offered guidance, answered questions, and addressed
concerns to empower parents and lay the groundwork for a successful kindergarten experience for all children.
