10 School Food Service 2023-2024 Annual ReportFeed KidsIncrease Meal ParticipationThe Child Care Feeding Program (CCFP) Supper Programhas been in place since 2015 and is funded by the USDA and administered in Florida by the Department of Health, Bureau of Child Care Food Programs. In order to qualify for this program, schools must be %u201carea eligible%u201d meaning they are located in a school zone in which 50% or more of enrolled children are eligible for free or reduced-price school meals. In FY24, we actively worked to expand this program to more schools and successfully operated 89 supper programs throughout the District, serving 1,200,541 nutritious meals to students after school.We also operated the Afterschool Snack Program which provided snacks for students participating in an academic enriched program after the regular school day. Like CCFP, the schools that can participate in the snack program must be area eligible. We operated a total of 114 Afterschool Snack Programs in the school year and served 2,048,212 snacks.Supper and Afterschool Snack ProgramsMainMENUSummer Food ServiceDuring the summer of 2024, we offered our Summer Food Service Program at schools providing summer sessions, camps, and grant-funded programs. Through the program, we served 841,480 free, nutritionally balanced meals at 189 sites to children up to the age of 18. Additionally, lunches and snacks were available at 24 local libraries and community centers. Menu details were available online at Nutrislice.com and up-to-date site information and locations were listed on the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) Summer BreakSpot website.
