13Enhance Customer ServiceThe Fulton Holland Educational Services Center BistroIn FY24, the Bistro introduced innovative concepts such as the Bistro Express Cafe, offering a mobile cart equipped with a Keurig Coffee Machine and a delightful array of pastries and desserts for staff meetings. Noteworthy events taking place throughout the year at the Bistro included the annual Thanksgiving Luncheon on November 16th and a special Hanukkah meal on December 15th. Collaborating with Employee Wellness, the Bistro contributed to the Winter Fest, held on December 5th and 6th, by providing two nutritious seasonal dishes: Roasted Carrot & Ginger Soup and a Fall Harvest Bowl featuring barley, sweet potatoes, chickpeas, apples, red onion, pecans, dried cranberries, and goat cheese with an apple cider vinaigrette. Additionally, our SFS Nutrition Educator teamed up with the registered dietitian at the District Onsite Clinic (DOC) to offer interactive healthy food games. And the Bistro was excited to welcome students from all over the county in support of Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day on April 25th.Kitchen Equipment Refresh in SchoolsTo ensure efficiency and continuity in our meal programs, SFS completed installation of new kitchen and serving line equipment in 16 schools throughout FY24. These included ovens, steamers, refrigerators, warmers, and open air food merchandisers.Having reliable equipment is crucial to our food service operations. They help us maintain product integrity including color, taste, and appearance by being able to prepare, store, and keep foods at proper temperatures, ensuring quality and freshness. Our capacity to prepare and serve large quantities of meals for hungry students depends on the reliability of the equipment in our kitchens and serving lines. As repair costs continued to increase, the determination to replace old equipment was made by evaluating the age or condition of each piece of existing equipment. Additionally, SFS was awarded $59,056 as part of the USDA and FDACS Equipment Assistance Grant. This funding allowed us to also purchase a double-deck convection oven for Pahokee MS/HS and two open air, self-service food merchandisers for K.E Cunningham/Canal Point ES.Bistro Express CafePahokee MS/HS K.E.
