During the past year, No Kid Hungry awarded SFS $30,000 for supplies and equipment to help support their passion for keeping kids first!NKH is a national campaign run by Share Our Strength, a nationwide, nonprofit organization working to solve problems of childhood hunger and poverty in the U.S. and around the world. As part of their endeavor to share the story of hungry children in America, they partnered with SFS in FY21 for the Spotlight Schools Initiative, designed to share those stories through the NKH campaign and the successful school meal programs that feed students.During FY24, the initiative continued with a spotlight on Gove ES in Belle Glade. The NKH film crew and publicity team spent three days in April 2024 interviewing SFS staff, teachers, administrators, parents, and students about the importance of school meals and how access to those free meals has a significant impact on students and their families. They also captured exciting footage of students eating breakfast in their classrooms and participating in school lunch in the cafeteria. In addition, as a special %u201cThank You,%u201d NKH generously presented small tokens of appreciation to the students and families who participated in the interviews.
