SAN
The IT Infrastructure Department is
in the final stages of completing the
new SAN (storage area network)
refresh project for the District’s three
Data Centers. With the additional
funding provided from the Sales Tax
Referendum, the District is able to
upgrade the existing 10+ year old
storage. As the 4th largest District
in the state, we rely and depend
on the latest SAN technologies,
including all flash storage arrays
and NVME (nonvolatile memory
express) cache, in order to provide
the storage requirements for District
PROJECT
critical enterprise systems in support
of students and staff. The new SAN
infrastructure is spread across the
District’s three Data Centers at the
main FHESC site, the BC (business
continuity) SITV-TEN site and the DR
(disaster recovery) NWRDC site in
Tallahassee. The new infrastructure
will provide over 4 PB (petabytes)
of storage across all three sites.
The IT Infrastructure Server team,
with the guidance of the IT Project
Management team, completed an
extensive research and analysis
that included the major key players
in the SAN industry. After thorough
investigation and consideration
of all vendors involved in the bid
process, the District chose NetApp’s
partnership moving forward for all
our SAN storage needs. NetApp is a
leader in the SAN storage space and
has been providing storage needs
for large companies including main
cloud providers.
