NEW AND IMPROVED
IDENTITY MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM
In 2018, IT successfully completed a project to replace our identity
management system. Identity management or ‘provisioning’ is the system
that creates student and employee usernames / logins and allows access to
computers and software applications based on your role in the District. Our
identity management system is extremely technical and complex because
it requires many ‘rules’ be coded to keep track of over 200,000 students
and employees including when and where they change schools or work
locations, when they enter and/or leave the District, and what specific access
they should receive.
The student side of the identity management system was successfully
implemented by summer 2018 and the employee side of the system was
successfully implemented in December 2018. The new system provides
much more robust functionality than the old system and is much easier for
IT’s technical system administrators to maintain.
