SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH
OF SIS GATEWAY FOR
PARENTS AND STUDENTS
The 2019 school year has started with a flurry of new communication tools
to increase student achievement and parent engagement. One of these
products is the Student Information System (SIS) Gateway for Parents and
Students that replaced Edline. The Gateway is an online application that
provides parents/guardians timely access to their student’s information
including, but not limited to schedule, grades, discipline, and attendance.
Letters were mailed out to land in mailboxes for the first week of school and
by the third day of school, over 25,000 new parent accounts were set up.
Parental feedback on social media has been positive with comments about
how students and parents can now easily see grades, schedules, test scores
and other important information in real-time.
The SIS Gateway was originally piloted at nine schools last year, including
Boynton Beach High, Spanish River High in Boca Raton and Bak Middle
School of the Arts in West Palm Beach. It is available in four languages:
English, Spanish, Portuguese and Creole.
Students access the Gateway through the District Student Portal and it is an
extension of the Student Information System (SIS) replacement project that
went live for teachers and administrators.
