UNIVERSAL
STUDENT ID PROJECT
UPDATE
The District’s long-running desire to have a standard Universal ID badge for
all students is closely approaching reality. After long and substantial vendor
negotiations, the project funding was approved at the February 15th board
meeting.
While navigating the purchasing process, the team continued working on
features and enhancements that will simplify the badge printing process and
add requested ancillary information requested by the schools - like icons
for Early Release, Senior Privilege, and Safety Patrol, among other special
circumstances.
The primary use cases for the Universal Student ID continue to be:
• Student Bus Ridership and FTE Surveys
• School Payment, Tracking & Reporting
• Media Center Materials Tracking
• Campus Safety & Security
Other possible future uses include Reunification/Roster Accountability,
Parent Pick-Up, AfterCare, Daily Attendance and Field Trips among others.
Allison Monbleau, Director of School Food Services, worked diligently
with Legal, and other project team members and stakeholders to
successfully author a new District Student ID Badge Policy 5.0115, which
was approved by the Board in September 2022. Project Champion and
Chief Operating Officer, Joseph Sanches, continues to be our strongest
advocate and has helped us navigate every obstacle to bring the project
to fruition.
Additions to the team from the Chief Operating Office include Christina
Davis and Larry Greenberg, who have been extremely helpful in moving
the project forward. Angela Bergt, IT PMO Manager, is providing PM
oversight for the implementation of the project. The overall feedback
and reception continue to be extremely positive from the schools,
leadership, and other stakeholders.
We’re excited to start getting the printers, badge materials, and
associated peripherals to schools as soon as possible. Our goal is that
all schools will have their equipment and be able to print badges prior to
the end of the 2022-2023 School Year.
