Hello TIME readers!
It’s time again to offer some insights into the IT PMO, and our role in helping
IT and the District at large to implement technology projects.
Angela Bergt, IT PMO Manager, continues to maintain a full project load as
well as provide mentorship and coaching to our junior PMs. Our two Special
Projects Coordinators, Angela Edwards, and Diana Nieto have been coming
up to speed quickly and are currently leading several projects successfully.
We said goodbye to one of our Senior Project Managers, Al Yonick, in early
2023. I know many of you worked with Al on projects and he was well-liked
among his peers - we’ll miss Al, but we wish him good health and safe travels
as he embarks on new adventures with his wife, Pat. IT Specialist, Dale
Blomberg, continues to provide valuable training classes and support the
ParentLink communication platform.
We currently have two Senior PM positions open and are also asking for
additional PM positions in the upcoming budget year to help manage our
increasing workload and requests for project managers. While the hiring
environment remains challenging, we’re confident we will be able to get the
right people on board to help us meet our goals and commitments.
Some recent projects that the IT PMO team has completed, collaborated on,
or are nearing completion include:
• Assetworks Application Upgrade
• Remote Bus Video Retrieval
• SIS Document Center/Electronic Cumulative Folders
• CCaaS - Call Center as-a-Service
• Contract Lifecycle Management
• Employee/Student Portal Hosted SaaS Solution
• SIS SaaS Solution
• District Strategic Initiatives Group Training/Mentoring PMO CORNER
• Bus Loop Wi-Fi Expansion
• 2023 - 2027 District Technology Plan
In-progress and upcoming projects include:
• Universal Student ID Badges
• Raptor Volunteer Module
• Here Comes the Bus!
• Student Bus Ridership
• Electronic Bus Inspections
• Multi-Factor Authentication
• IT Service and Asset Management replacement
• Drivers License Monitoring
• Centegix/CrisisAlert Cellular Backup
If you’re curious about the tools and processes we employ to manage
projects, I’d encourage you to go to our in-house created Project
Management Center for Excellence, where you’ll find an overall guide to
our methodology as well as useful templates and tools to help with your own
projects.
If you or your team would like to request a Project Manager to assist with a
technology project, please have your Director or Chief submit the PM Request
Google Form here. While we cannot accommodate every request, we strive
to assist whenever possible. Thank you for reading the IT PMO Corner and
please contact me, Michael Callahan, if you have questions or for anything I
can help with - and remember to always plan your work and work your plan!
