REMINDER:
COMPLETE IT SECURITY
AWARENESS COURSE
Just a friendly reminder to complete your Mandatory IT Security Awareness
course in eLearning. We know it can be challenging to find the time. However,
it’s important in this plugged-in world when cyber criminals are waiting for
one or more employees to let their guard down and allow easy access to our
District network and your personal information. Completion of the IT Security
Awareness training by all employees is also required as part of the District’s
Cybersecurity insurance plan.
PHISHING REMINDER
Phishing attacks spread from one compromised user account to another when
a user clicks on a link in an email and then enters a username and password.
Follow these 6 tips to avoid being “phished”:
1. Never give your District password to anyone.
2. Don’t click on links in emails unless you are expecting the email and
can verify the sender.
3. Check the address that sent the email. Does it match the context of the
email? Does it match the name of the organization who supposedly sent
it?
4. If you must click on a link in an email, be cautious and hover over the link
to verify the location.
5. Before entering your District username and password into a screen that
looks like the District Portal, verify that “https://www.mysdpbc.org/”
appears in your browser bar at the top of the screen.
6. If you believe you received a phishing email, mark it as SPAM by clicking
the SPAM button at the top of the email in your District Google Mail
screen.
** IMPORTANT ** If you have been phished and your account has
become compromised, contact the IT Service Desk immediately at
itservicedesk@palmbeachschools.org or 561-242-4100.
