2022 IT DIVISION
that District systems can’t be accessed by a threat actor, even if login
credentials are compromised.
Future projects under consideration include Cloud Backup to strengthen our
business continuity/disaster recovery capabilities and the creation of a new IT
SOC (Security Operations Center).
IT Infrastructure
IT Infrastructure is the backbone of our technology, providing safe, secure,
and robust server, storage, and network capabilities that support all of our
devices and applications. Starting this year, the team also maintains primary
responsibility for the data centers. Infrastructure improvements in 2022
primarily revolved around technology infrastructure for new construction,
increasing Wi-Fi capabilities and access and managing a switch to a new
vendor, Crown Castle, as our internet provider.
Notable infrastructure improvements in-progress or completed in the past
year include:
• Blue Lake Elementary - Technology infrastructure completed.
• Jupiter School Police Substation - Technology infrastructure completed.
• Wireless AP Expansion - Wi-Fi expansion to all bus loops and the
majority of elementary school drop-off loops.
• Wi-Fi Upgrades - All high schools upgraded to Wi-Fi6 compatibility with
future expansion ongoing.
• Bus Facilities Wi-Fi - Provided outdoor Wireless Access Points at all
Transportation facilities to support remote bus video retrieval.
• Bus Loop Wi-Fi - Provided outdoor Wireless at all school bus loops.
• Data Cabinet Replacement - Replaced data cabinets with higher quality,
more secure cabinets.
• UPS Upgrades - Lithium-ion-based UPS units to provide longer, more
reliable power capabilities at schools.
• School Cabling Retrofit - Select sites re-cabled to allow for security
camera replacements and upgrades.
• Centegix Router Installation - 200+ routers installed.
• VMWare Enterprise Agreement - Finalized a three year enterprise
agreement with VMWare to support the District’s virtual server
environment.
Upcoming projects for the infrastructure team include internet bandwidth
increases at all schools, District-wide switch and router upgrades, and
ongoing Wi-Fi 6 expansion.
IT Enterprise Applications
IT Enterprise Applications team administers and supports applications across
the District, such as business-oriented enterprise apps like ERP/PeopleSoft,
SIS/Focus student data application, TRIRIGA for facilities management,
among many others. The team also provides custom-tailored applications
when required to fill gaps across the District. Additionally, the team handles
data integrations, provisioning, endpoint management and other support for
our increasing Software-as-a-Solution (SaaS) applications.
